The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners, carried out a planned counter-terrorism operation last night at the Gaycad Junction in the Mabaax area of the Hiiraan region. The operation resulted in the killing of 13 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, who were fugitives and former commanders previously targeted in the same area.
The operation was conducted in two successive phases, targeting a site where Al-Shabaab militants were regrouping to plot attacks against the Somali people. NISA successfully dismantled their plans, and all weapons and equipment in their possession were destroyed.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) reiterates its firm commitment to pursuing and eliminating Al-Shabaab terrorists wherever they may hide. This operation reflects NISA’s continued efforts to protect the Somali people and maintain national security.
