The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has officially launched the National Vision 2060, declaring that the time has come for the Somali people to directly elect their leaders. He emphasized that this step is crucial for strengthening peace, unity, and national development.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, President Hassan Sheikh described Vision 2060 as a national pledge to future generations, offering them the opportunity to inherit a country capable of competing with developed nations.
“Today, we have chosen to move beyond despair and turn toward innovation and collaboration. This vision is a bridge between today and tomorrow — a legacy we leave behind and a future benefit for those who come after us,” said the President.
The President further noted that Somalia is now on a new path aimed at achieving sustainable development. He outlined three foundational pillars of the National Vision 2060:
1. National unity and preservation of Somali values.
2. Homegrown solutions based on internal realities.
3. Prioritizing the common good of the Somali people.
President Hassan Sheikh urged all Somalis, both at home and abroad, to actively participate in the implementation of this national vision. He stressed that the success of the plan will depend on the collective effort of the Somali people.
