There is still uncertainty surrounding the feasibility of the reconciliation conference that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is planning to hold on June 15. Sources close to the matter indicate that no consensus has been reached on the structure or objectives of the conference.
Three key political groups have expressed dissatisfaction with how the President is handling the process:
1. The National Salvation Council, a coalition of opposition figures that has recently formed a significant political bloc,
2. Former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, who has not clearly indicated his support for or participation in the conference,
3. Two major Federal Member State leaders, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) of Jubbaland and Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland, both of whom have previously voiced criticism and political differences with Villa Somalia.
The June 15 conference is intended to address political disputes and revive dialogue around the federal system, but without genuine consultation and broader political agreement, there is a real risk that the event could be delayed or fail to yield meaningful results.
RNN Somali TV will continue monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as new information emerges.
