The Somali Salvation Forum has officially announced that it will not take part in the political dialogue initiated by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, scheduled for June 15 and 22.

In a statement released today, the Forum expressed disappointment, stating that the President’s planned meetings appear to be one-sided and lack the inclusivity required to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the country.

“The Forum had initially welcomed the President’s June 1 initiative, calling for it to be a comprehensive and inclusive platform involving Federal Member State leaders and opposition politicians, aimed at addressing the nation’s critical challenges,” the statement said.

However, the Forum noted that the President’s subsequent steps suggest a continuation of the same unilateral approach that has contributed to mistrust and division, thereby dashing the hopes of many Somalis and allies who had welcomed the initial call for dialogue in good faith.

The Somali Salvation Forum reaffirmed its commitment to national unity and the collective interest of the Somali people. It emphasized its readiness to engage in a genuine and inclusive political dialogue that can help resolve the country’s deep-rooted political conflicts.

Finally, the Forum urged the President and other leaders to create an inclusive political platform, warning that failure to do so would only deepen the political divide and undermine efforts to confront the threats facing Somalia’s stability and statehood.
