During Trump’s meeting with Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the leader gave him five instructions, according to White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

To sign the Abraham Accords to improve relations with Israel.

To tell all “foreign terrorists” to leave Syria.

Specifically, Trump has pointed to the expulsion of “Palestinian terrorists” from the country

To help the United States stop the return of the group known as ISIS

And, in the same vein, to take responsibility for detention facilities associated with the group in eastern and northern Syria.

Before Trump announced his plan to lift US sanctions on Syria yesterday, Syria had been a state designated as a sponsor of terrorism since 1979, when the country’s revolutionary presidents, Bashar al-Assad, father of Hafez al-Assad, was president.

Additional sanctions and embargoes were imposed on Syria in 2003.
