In a major diplomatic breakthrough, India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate and full ceasefire following recent armed clashes that raised alarm across the region and the world.
The agreement was announced after former U.S. President Donald Trump stepped in to mediate between the two nations. In a public statement issued earlier today, Trump called for an end to hostilities and urged both sides to seek peaceful solutions. His direct involvement is said to have played a key role in bringing both governments to the negotiating table.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the development:
“We have reached a full ceasefire agreement with India, which will take effect immediately. We are committed to peace and de-escalation for the sake of regional stability.”
There has been no official statement yet from the Indian government, but sources within diplomatic circles say that both sides have agreed to halt further military actions and begin talks aimed at long-term resolution.
The ceasefire comes after days of intensified border clashes, especially in the Kashmir region, where casualties and displacement had been reported on both sides. The international community, including the United Nations and regional partners, had been calling for restraint and diplomatic engagement.
Analysts say Trump’s involvement may signal a renewed interest in U.S. influence in South Asia, and the move is likely to be closely watched globally.
