In the past three days, the Danab Special Forces of the Somali National Army in coordination with Jubbaland regional forces have carried out a series of planned operations in Maqooqaha and surrounding villages in the Lower Juba region.

During these operations, more than 50 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group were killed, including several key commanders believed to have been leading insurgent activity in the area.

The forces also captured large quantities of weapons and military supplies, and destroyed hideouts and underground bunkers used by the militants for shelter and coordination.

The Somali National Army, with support from international partners, continues its wider campaign across the Jubba regions aimed at eliminating Al-Shabaab, restoring peace and stability, and reestablishing government presence in liberated areas.

Military officials described the operations as a major blow to Al-Shabaab’s operational network in southern Somalia, and promised continued pressure until all regions are fully secured.
