Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky says he had a “very important” after a phone conversation with President Donald Trump, and they agreed to work on increasing air defenses.

It is the first time they have spoken since Washington announced earlier this week that it would halt deliveries of some of the weapons. It is said to affect the Patriot air defense battery system.

Ukraine has asked Washington to sell it more Patriot missiles and systems it sees as key to defending its cities from increasing Russian airstrikes.

Washington’s decision to halt some arms shipments to Ukraine has prompted warnings from Kyiv that the move will undermine its ability to defend itself against Russian airstrikes and the escalation of the war.
