US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is in Riyadh renewing efforts to mediate diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Before leaving Tel Aviv, he said there is still a great opportunity for the Middle East region to move in a completely different direction.
On Monday, Mr. Blinken met with Israeli leaders and pressured them to end the war in Gaza.He said Israel must take advantage of its military gains against Hamas to secure a strategic victory that would allow more aid to be delivered to the region.
However, the Saudi government has repeatedly insisted that its relationship with Israel promises the future of an independent Palestinian state, a policy rejected by the Israeli government.
