A senior leader of the daacish group in Iraq and Syria has been killed in a joint operation by members of Iraq’s national intelligence service and US-led forces, the Iraqi prime minister said.
Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rifai, also known as Abu Khadijah, “is considered one of the most dangerous terrorists in Iraq and the world”, said Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
US President Donald Trump said he was “hunted down relentlessly by our warplanes”.
The US Central Command said on Thursday that it had carried out an airstrike in the Al Anbar province in western Iraq, killing one of the most senior members of ISIS.
Rifai was the head of ISIS’s most important decision-making committee and was responsible for the operations, technology, and plans to defeat ISIS around the world, according to the US Central Command.
