The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Sunday that he will announce a 25% tariff increase on metals and steel imported to the United States on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump also said he would announce the tariffs on Tuesday or Wednesday, to take effect almost immediately.
During his first term, Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff on steel and a 10 percent tariff on steel or aluminum, but later reduced the steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
Trump announced on Friday that he would raise the trade tax, which would increase the amount of US tariffs to equalize the sides with which US businesses trade, which is expected week to begin this week.
