The US Embassy in Nairobi has issued a new security alert for American citizens and other foreigners in Kenya, citing the possibility of attacks in the country’s capital by the Al-Shabaab group.
The embassy statement said it advises people to avoid potential target areas, which are places of public gathering such as hotels, restaurants, markets, schools, police stations, and places of worship.
“The Embassy is advising citizens and other foreign nationals of the potential for terrorist attacks by groups such as the Al Shabab , in light of the August 7th Embassy attack, the September 11th attacks in the United States, the September 21st Westgate Mall attack, and the October 7th Hamas attack in Israel,” the US Embassy in Kenya said in a statement.
The warning stated that terrorist threats, particularly from the Al-Shabaab group, remain constant and threaten to carry out attacks in Nairobi and across Kenya.
The US Embassy in Nairobi has previously issued warnings regarding possible attacks in Kenya, some of which have occurred while others have not.
