The United States on Wednesday cut off intelligence sharing with Ukraine, a move that could significantly reduce Kyiv’s ability to continue its three-year war with Russia.
Washington is pushing for peace talks to end the war between the two neighboring states.
President Donald Trump earlier this week ordered the suspension of military aid to Ukraine, a few days after he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy exchanged heated words at the White House.
The director of the CIA, John Ratcliffe, said on Wednesday that the United States has for now ended the sharing of intelligence with the Kyiv government, although this step may be short-lived after Zelenskyy said that the heated words between him and Trump in the presidential office were “regrettable” and that Ukraine is ready for peace talks with Russia.
Since the start of the war in 2022, the United States has been providing Ukraine with critical intelligence, including sensitive military information needed to target Russian forces.
