The governor of Banadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amir received in his office a delegation led by the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General in charge of Somalia affairs, Mr. James Swan.
The meeting that took place at the Lower Government House was focused on several issues, including the strengthening of collaboration and cooperation between the two sides, the acceleration of development projects in the capital, security support, and youth employment.
Also, the meeting discussed the elections of people and votes in Mogadishu, which the regional administration said they are preparing for the people of the capital. This election process, which resulted in strong controversy, was opposed by the opposition and the former leaders.
The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Somalia and the Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), Mr. James Swan praised the efforts of the Mayor of Mogadishu, according to a statement issued by the regional office.
Ambassador Swan, promised that the United Nations will stand by the programs to develop Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
