The British Embassy in Mogadishu today announced that it is providing more than $40 million in humanitarian and health assistance to Somalia, to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable communities.
The embassy said, the new funding will respond to the impact of recent low rainfall, while also strengthening long-term efforts to build community resilience to the challenges posed by conflict, drought and climate change.
Also, this funding will be part of resilience-building programs, including early warning systems, disaster preparedness, and supporting the livelihoods of communities at risk from climate change and conflict across the country, according to the embassy.
Commenting on the new funding, the British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, said: “This funding demonstrates the UK’s commitment to supporting Somalia and its people.”
