U.S. Airstrikes Kill Senior ISIS Militants in Somalia’s Bari Region

The United State of America warplanes carried out heavy airstrikes on Sunday in Somalia’s Bari region, targeting Daesh militants hiding in the Calmisaad mountain range, according to Puntland security officials.

The attack took place near Toga Balade and Garobah areas, targeting Daesh members who were there, after they received information from Puntland’s intelligence that cooperated with the United States and carried out the attack.

Puntland security officials have confirmed that most of the high-ranking Daesh members of the group were killed in the attack.

Officials of the Defense Forces of the Puntland Regional Government said that there were mostly foreigners who were among the leaders of the group in the mountainous area of ​​the Eastern Region.

This marks the second U.S. airstrike in a week targeting Daesh militants in northeastern Somalia. As of Monday, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has not yet released an official statement detailing the results of the operation.
