A strong typhoon hit Taiwan killing at least 14 people and 120 missing, causing fear among people living in areas near the area affected by the storm, according to local sources.
Officials said all the dead and missing were in Guangfu City in Hualien County in eastern Taiwan.
Taiwan’s typhoon and earthquake relief teams said their relief efforts were temporarily suspended due to the difficult situation they reported.
A landslide dam overflowed twice on Tuesday, releasing about 60 million tons of water and triggering severe flooding in the city of Guangfu.
