Officials from the Turkish government held several hours of meetings in Cairo with senior leaders of the Egyptian government, discussing the situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt said on its Facebook page that the discussions were focused on the issues of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, especially the crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia.
These discussions were led by the assistant minister of foreign affairs of Egypt for African affairs Ihab Awad and Elif Ulgen who is the director general of East and Southern Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
Both Egypt and Turkey have reached an agreement and understanding on ways to maintain security and stability in the Horn of Africa region, also supporting Somalia in efforts to ensure security and operations in the country, calling for peace and independence in Somalia.
