U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed concern following a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, amid growing tensions in the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump disclosed that the two leaders spoke for approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. He said that while the discussion was constructive, it did not lead to any breakthrough that could bring a swift end to the conflict.
According to Trump, President Putin shared details about a recent large-scale Ukrainian operation that targeted military bases inside Russian territory. The offensive, reportedly codenamed “Spiderweb,” involved the use of over a hundred drones, many of which were hidden in cargo trucks and deployed near key Russian installations.
Reports from Ukrainian intelligence claim the strike inflicted damage worth up to $7 billion, mainly through the destruction of several Russian fighter jets and equipment.
Despite having a close rapport with Putin, Trump admitted he was disturbed by the tone and content of their latest exchange, hinting that the war could escalate further unless concrete steps are taken toward de-escalation.
