US warplanes carried out a heavy airstrike last night on ISIS militants who fled from the Miraale River yesterday after Puntland forces took control of the river through air and ground operations.
The Puntland Operation Calmiskaad Command issued a brief statement confirming the US airstrike, noting that the target was an ISIS convoy heading towards the Calmiskaad mountains.
“Some of the terrorist groups that fled from the Miraale River were bombed by the Puntland government’s friends from the United States. They were targeted as they fled south of Miraale,” said the statement from the Media Office of Operation Calmiskaad.
