The United Arab Emirates has condemned yesterday’s explosion in Mogadishu that killed more than 10 people.

A statement from the UAE’s foreign ministry condemned the “criminal acts” and expressed the UAE’s strong opposition to all acts of violence aimed at disrupting security and peace.

The ministry also sent its condolences to the families of the victims and the Somali government.

A statement from the federal government of Somalia said that the explosion occurred yesterday morning outside the Damayo camp.

Security forces have cordoned off the area, and have also launched an investigation. At the time of the explosion, a youth recruitment drive was underway in the camp.

This explosion is similar to the one that occurred in 2023 when a suicide bomber killed 25 soldiers at the Jaalle Siyaad camp opposite the Damayo camp.
