The presidents of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, and Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held critical talks last night at the Presidential Palace in Asmara.

The meeting was about the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries, and the regional and international situations, and the two leaders declared that the stability of Somalia is the backbone to sustain the peace and stability of the region.

President Isaias said that it is necessary to stop the foreign intervention in Somalia from abroad, which is fueling conflicts and crises in the region.

The President of Eritrea insisted that the tripartite agreement between Asmara, Somalia and Egypt in Asmara was only aimed at strengthening the historical cooperation relationship; guaranteeing peace and stability in Somalia; and promoting the interests of the Horn of Africa and Red Sea region.
