The new prime minister of Syria, Mohamed Al Bashir, announced on Tuesday that he has started the movement of national affairs in the country, after receiving the full support of all the rebel groups that overthrew former president Bashar al-Assad.
In a brief speech broadcast on television, Al Bashir said that he will lead the interim government until March 1 of the coming year.
This man is not well known in Syria as a whole, but he became famous in the Idlib region in northwestern Syria, where he led the sub-administration built by opposition groups that receive support from the Turkish government.
In the capital city of Damascus, banks and businesses reopened yesterday for the first time since Sunday, when the opposition overthrew the regime that had ruled the country for the past 50 years.
On the other hand, the United States government for the first time yesterday officially spoke about the political change that took place in Syria.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Washington fully supports the political transition process in Syria and hopes that it will lead to an inclusive and non-partisan government.
The United States has recognized the main rebel group that ousted Assad, Hayat Tahrir Al Sham, as a terrorist group, and it is not known whether it will remove it from the list or not.
