The election of the President of Jubaland State is scheduled to be held today in Kismayo.
There are four candidates competing in this election, the first of whom is the incumbent President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) who is expected to win the Jubaland Presidency again.
The other three candidates are Faisal Mohamed Matan, Abdi Hassan Hajiin and Abubakar Abdi Hassan, who have registered to run against the incumbent President Ahmed Madobe.
The four candidates appeared before the Jubbaland Third House of Representatives yesterday, and presented their political program, but the result of the election is known to be Ahmed Madobe, as he is in control of the election.
On the other hand, security has been tightened, and additional security forces have been deployed on the streets of the city to ensure security during the election.
This election is coming at a time when the federal government of Somalia has strongly opposed Ahmed Madobe’s decision to hold the election, calling it illegal and will not accept it.
