The former president of South Korea has been arrested.

The anti-corruption department of South Korea announced that the deposed president of the country, Yoon Suk Yeol, was arrested early Wednesday morning.

Yoon’s arrest came hours after hundreds of detectives and police officers entered Yoon Suk Yeol’s home. It was the second attempt by the police forces to enter the house of the former president.

A convoy of police vehicles leaving the former president’s house was seen in videos broadcast by local and international media.

Yoon has for weeks refused to surrender to South Korea’s anti-corruption agency, which has charged him with corruption and attempted abduction, but his lawyers and bodyguards have resisted the former president’s arrest.

On the 3rd of December, Yoon Suk Yeol imposed an emergency order on the country of South Korea, which, if it were to take effect, would remove the civil rule, the power of the parliament and the police, and limit the power to the president.

However, the people and the parliament rejected that, and it led to him withdrawing from that decision after a few hours.

The parliament finally impeached the former president.
