A ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas is set to come into effect at 8:30 a.m. Middle East time in the entire Gaza Strip, the mediators announced in Doha on Saturday.
In Israel, the families of the missing people in Gaza are waiting for the first list of names of those held by Hamas, while the Palestinians are preparing to welcome hundreds of people who will be released from Israeli prisons.
But in a speech aired last night on Israeli television, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel will consider this ceasefire temporary. He also said that he has the right to continue the war if necessary, and that he has the support of the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump.
The ceasefire, if effective, will end 15 months of continuous fighting in the Gaza Strip.
The war between Israel and Hamas has caused the greatest loss to the civilians of Gaza, where it is said that more than 47 thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed.
In the first phase of this agreement, which will last 42 days, the mediators said, 33 of the Israeli hostages will be released, while the Israeli government will release 1890 Palestinians ,also Israeli will withdraw from Gaza.
Finally, Israel continued its airstrikes on Gaza on Saturday. Medical sources said that around 30 people were killed in Gaza.
