Sudan, where wars are going on, is in danger of becoming another failed country, the reason being about the civil society is collapsing and the armed groups are increasing, as the head of a leading organization international aid told the BBC.

As well as the two main fighting sides in Sudan – the army and the emergency support forces – there are very few “ethnically based forces” who are looting civilians, according to Jan Egeland, the head of the agency. Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

“The parties are destroying their houses, massacring their people,” he said.
For nineteen months, there was an intense power struggle between the army and the RSF, which forced more than 10 million people to flee their homes and brought the country to the brink of famine.

“Everything I have seen confirms that this is indeed the next biggest humanitarian emergency, the biggest hunger crisis, the biggest displacement crisis,” said Mr Egeland, after a trip to Sudan.

In September, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that famine in Sudan is “almost everywhere”.
