Somalia government in collaboration with the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), has conducted two airstrikes targeting ISIS-Somalia affiliates, who are a big threat to the country’s security.
The first strike took place on May 31, 2025, targeting a target 75km south of Bosaso town in the Bari region, while the second took place on June 1, 2025, 72km south of Bosaso town.
“These operations are part of a concerted effort to undermine ISIS-Somalia’s ability to plan and execute terrorist attacks that could harm the Somali people, the armed forces, and international partners,” the statement said.
Also the statement added “The Federal Government of Somalia expresses its special gratitude to AFRICOM, reaffirming its commitment to the fight against the Khawarij groups.
The government also thanks the Somali people and international friends who support the security and stability of the country.”
On the AFRICOM side they stated that they collaborated with the Somalia Government and they will continue to support in order to eliminate the ISIS .
