Somali President Hassan Sheikh has called on the Nile River countries, Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan, to peacefully share the waters, stating that Somalia maintains a balance in regional relations.
The President who talked to Al Arabiya Tv said that the relationship with Ethiopia does not conflict with the strategic partnership with Egypt.
“It is important to share the Nile waters peacefully. I call for a political solution. I urge the Ethiopian Prime Minister to sit down with other parties to alleviate their concerns about the dam,” President Hassan Sheikh said.
Somalia shares a border with the politically antagonistic countries of Egypt and Ethiopia , both of which are partners in the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSOM) also Somalia has a good relation with Egypt which helps Somalia train its troops and provide logistical support.
