Somalia, Uganda to strengthen security cooperation between the two Countries.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is in Kampala, met with his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni were they will discussed the relations between the two countries, issues in the Horn of Africa region and the strengthening of the historical cooperation between Somalia and Uganda.

The Presidency of Somalia said that the two Presidents, Hassan Sheikh and Yoweri Museveni, have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the areas of security, trade, and development, while agreeing to increase trade and investment cooperation.

They also agreed on the support of Somalia’s security forces , the new AUSSOM operation ,and the welcoming of Somalia’s new membership in the East African Community (EAC) and Somalia’s representation in the United Nations Security Council in 2025-2026.

The Ugandan government has also welcomed the lifting of the arms embargo on Somalia, which is an important step that will allow Somalia to fully assume responsibility for national security.
