The Somali Immigration and Nationality Agency has announced that it is running a plan to develop the Somali passport, with the expectation of issuing a third generation passport that will be electronic.
A press release issued by the organization said that the new passport will meet all the security and quality standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which will increase the reputation and credibility of Somalia’s passport.
Also, the agency pointed out that this development is part of the government’s efforts to modernize immigration and citizenship services, using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach.
The new planned passport will have new and modern features, which will Increases the level of security and data protection, Improves quality and appearance to match international passports and Strengthens international credibility of this important document.
On the other hand, the organization announced that it will start a wide consultation with the Somali community, government agencies, the public, and other stakeholders related to this matter.
