The President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and a delegation he leads have departed for Turkey, following an invitation from his counterpart, the President of Turkey, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In these visit President Hassan will meet with his Turkish counterpart, discussing ways to further strengthen cooperation and existing relations between the two countries, especially cooperation in the military, security, and strengthening and sustaining the fight against Al Shabab.
The President visit is important effort to strengthen cooperation between Somalia and Turkey in eradicating terrorism, as the Somali government is committed to the hard fight against Al Shabab to ensure stability, peace, and reconstruction of the country.
The both countries have a good relationship which reaches a strategic level and touches on the areas of security, military, trade, blue economy, energy, and education.
The government led by President Hassan Sheikh is seeking international support for airstrikes targeting Al-Shabaab militants.
