Somalia President to attend the Congo discuss crisis in Tanzania.

The leaders of East and South Africa are set to meet on 7-8 February 2025, in the city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, to discuss the crisis in Eastern Congo, according to the President of Kenya, William Ruto, on Monday.

Ruto confirmed that Somali President Hassan Sheikh will participate in the joint meeting to find a solution to the Eastern Congo and the political support of the region.

DRC President Felix Tshisekedi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame said they will attend the joint meeting of East African and Southern African heads of state, according to EAC President William Ruto.

The meeting will take place in the city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, which is the commercial center of the country. The presidents of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, and Somalia’s Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have also confirmed that they will attend this special meeting scheduled to take place on Saturday.

EAC includes 8 countries, namely DRC, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The joint meeting of the EAC and SADC will be a two-day meeting, with ministers from these organizations meeting on Friday, 7 February, ahead of the Heads of State meeting on Saturday.

This is one of the efforts to resolve the security situation in Eastern Congo, as organizations in East and Southern Africa are trying to find support and a political solution for the region.
