The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a speech at the Summit of the Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which discussed the humanitarian situation faced by the people of Palestine and Lebanon.
“The issue of Gaza is deeper than politics and ideology, and it is based on human rights, dignity and justice. A lasting peace solution in the Middle East can only come through the establishment of a Palestinian state with its 1967 borders and Jerusalem as its capital.” said the President in his speech.
President Hassan Sheikh called on the heads of governments participating in the conference and the international community to take joint measures to provide emergency aid to the people in distress, and he suggested that an immediate ceasefire be implemented and return to the table for dialogue .
