H.E. President HassanSMohamud laid a wreath at the Daljirka Dahsoon (Tomb of Unknown Soldier) Monument in Mogadishu to mark the 65th Anniversary of Somalia’s Independence and Unification.
The President was accompanied by the Commissioner General of the Somali Police Force, Major General Asad Osman Abdullahi.
During the event the President delivered a speech he called on the Somali people to strengthen their unity, solidarity, and support for the state. He noted that this day symbolizes the struggle for independence and the efforts made by the country’s founders.
Various units of the National Armed Forces—ground troops, Air Force, and Navy—along with police forces paraded today in Mogadishu in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of Independence Day.
