The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who spoke at the African Energy Conference, presented the Somali government’s plan to increase the quality and power of energy, which is the foundation for the development and transformation of Somalia.
The president pointed out that Somalia has many resources related to energy renewal, such as the sun and wind, which in the future can be an important source of energy that is friendly to the environment.
“The development Somalia is aiming for requires cheap and accessible energy. Today, half of our people “50%” do not have enough electricity, so we plan to strengthen investment in Energy, to enable the implementation of industry, modernization of life infrastructure and strengthening of social services”. President Hassan said.
President Hassan Sheikh, who is accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Water Abdillahi Bidhan Warsame and the Minister of Finance Bihi Iman Cige, has offered international stakeholders to participate in the investment of Somalia’s energy projects, which is a big market.
Also, the African Energy Summit, which was attended by the leaders of the African continent, today released the “Daru-Salaam Declaration”, which is a commitment to ensure that 300 million Africans have access to sufficient electricity by the year 2030.
