Somalia President His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held an Iftar meeting to honor the achievements of Somali women, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud talked the important role that Somali women are playing in the fight against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab, in which women are the center of society and directly participate in efforts to liberate the country, working to raise awareness, support the forces and build communities in areas liberated from terrorism.
The President also praised the role of Somali women in the country’s democratic and liberation process, noting the importance of Somali women actively participating in the direct electoral process that provides them with the opportunity to vote, run for national office, and play a prominent role in the country’s leadership.
