The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was given a ceremonial salute by units of the Somali National Army and honored with the national anthem, raised the national flag at the National Presidential Palace, commemorating the 65th anniversary of the country’s independence and unity.
Ministers, MPs, military officers and other leaders were present at the ceremony, although the president did not deliver a speech at the forum, which was unusual for him.
