The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, attended a meeting of Arab University leaders in Cairo.

The conference was focused on Palestinian issues, especially reconstruction and how to find a lasting solution to the difficult situation in Gaza and how to support the Palestinian people in general.

Mr. Hamsa mentioned the strong opposition of the Somali government to the statements made by Israel regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people, which is a clear violation of the rules and international agreements and human rights.

The Prime Minister praised the support of the Palestinian people, saying that the Federal Government of Somalia and its people support their right to build their own independent government.

He also spoke about the situation in Sudan and Syria in his speech, and said that Somalia supports the stability and territorial unity of those Arab countries and that they should not interfere in their internal affairs.

Finally, Prime Minister Hamsa thanked the Arab countries that we are brothers for their support to Somalia in terms of security and humanity, calling on them to invest in the important economic sectors in Somalia such as agriculture, livestock and energy, in order to strengthen sustainable development and create opportunities for them.
