The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, delivered a speech last night at the United Nations General Assembly.
The PM begun by emphasizing the ongoing battles against terrorism and the government recent millitary successes against Al -Shabab. He reaffirmed Somali government commitment to ensure national stability and thank the international allies for their support in fighting terrorism which is important for the growth and development of Somalia.
Also he noted the situation between Somalia and Ethiopia ,particularly highlighting Ethiopia recent actions ,which he described as violations of Somalia’s territorial integrity and called for international support to uphold Somalia’s sovereignty.
He also adressed the ongoing conflicts in Gaza ,Sudan and Ukraine which has lead to hundreds of deadh also displaced millions and led to severe food insecurity and the need for humanitirian access and inclusive dialogue.
Mr Barre celebrated recent milestones, including the completion of debt relief and accession to the East African Community, and emphasized Somalia’s potential for economic growth and development, citing natural resources and a strategic location for trade.
