The 19th Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) officially opened this week in Kampala, Uganda, bringing together high-level representatives from member states to discuss unified strategies on global political and economic issues.
Somalia is being represented at the conference by Mr. Hamse Adan Haadow, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Ambassador Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare, Somalia’s envoy to Uganda, also in attendance.
The conference, held under the theme of strengthening cooperation among member states, focused on fostering a unified voice on the global stage. Member countries discussed aligning their foreign policy positions to ensure their collective stance is clearly heard in international forums.
A key topic on the agenda was the situation in Palestine, with delegates warmly welcoming the recently reached ceasefire agreement aimed at halting Israeli aggression in Palestinian territories. The meeting reaffirmed the Movement’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that it remains a core issue for NAM and denouncing the continued injustices faced by the Palestinian people.
