Yinchuan, China – August 28, 2025: Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre delivered a landmark address at the opening of the 7th China-Arab States Expo in Yinchuan, highlighting Somalia’s progress and its growing role as a hub for regional cooperation.
In his speech, Prime Minister Hamza emphasized that Somalia is charting a new course of development centered on peace, security, legal reforms, and attracting investment. He underscored Somalia’s strategic ambition to serve as a vital bridge linking Africa, the Arab world, and Asia, capitalizing on its rich resources and unique geographic location.
“Somalia is focused on strengthening partnerships in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure, and technology,” he said.
The Prime Minister also pointed to the steady rise in bilateral trade between Somalia and China, which has grown by 20% over the past year. He further noted the historic friendship between the two nations, recalling that Somalia was the first African country to establish diplomatic ties with China in 1960.
