The Federal Government of Somalia has closed down 12 media outlets and websites owned by Al Shabaab, after previously successfully closing down more than 30 websites on the Internet.
The government has also seized information and traces of many individuals involved in the activities of these websites and those who provided financial support, as this information will facilitate action against them, according to a statement from the Somali Ministry of Information.
Government agencies tasked with dismantling the websites said they also hope to soon take down other websites belonging to al-Shabaab that broadcast their news.
