The 7th President of Somalia, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who recently opened a conference of opposition members at the Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu, delivered a wide-ranging speech at the forum, said that the current electoral commission was formed by President Hassan for his own interests.
“It is not an electoral committee, it is a group committee that serves a party. Is it acceptable for one party to establish an electoral system for the entire country?” said Sheikh Sharif.
“President Hassan is jumping ahead to amend the Somali Constitution, and this is illegal,” he continued.
