Somalia Former PM ; “Puntland should release the ship immediately.”

Former Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke announced he held a private meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Somalia, about the Sea World ship which was siezed by Puntland on July 18 on it way to Mogadishu which has recently created tension in Puntland.

“In a meeting with the Turkish ambassador, he told me that the MV Sea World ship was carrying military equipment intended for TURKISOM. The ambassador also said that he had contacted Puntland but had not received any response.” he said in his X account.

Former Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid, who called on the Puntland administration to immediately release the ship, said, “In this regard, Puntland is bound by a legal obligation that obliges it to immediately release the ship.”

The Somali government, which spoke about the incident, described it as piracy, but the Puntland administration dismissed the accusation, saying that the ship was captured off the coast of Bareedo.
