The Members of the People’s Assembly of the Somalia Parliament approved the Independent Commission for National Human Rights which was presented today by the Ministry of Family and Development of Human Rights of Somalia.
On the other hand, the Minister of Family and Development of Human Rights of the Federal Government of Somalia Amb.Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi , thanked the Members of the People’s Assembly for the honorable approval of the Independent Commission on National Human Rights today.
”This historic decision marks a significant step forward in strengthening justice, accountability, and the protection of human rights in Somalia. It is a proud moment for our nation and a major achievement for the Somali people.The establishment of this Commission, the result of careful planning and sustained effort, sends a clear message to the world that Somalia is committed to advancing human rights and building strong national institutions.” said Amb.Al-Makhzoumi .
The Minister also highlighted the importance of this development in the context of Somalia’s recent international engagement.
”Alongside our recent success at the UN Human Rights Conference in Geneva, today’s milestone reflects the continued progress of the National Interest Government in promoting Somalia’s voice, values, and vision on the global stage.” she added.
