Somalia and South Africa discuss bilateral relations.

The Somali Foreign Minister, Abdisalan Abdi Ali, met with his South African counterpart, Ronald Ozzy, in Pretoria.

The two Ministers discussed strengthening their relations, particularly cooperation in the areas of security, trade and migration facilitation.

The two countries also confirmed that they will sign a memorandum of understanding on the movement of people, exchange of diplomatic and employee passports.

Minister Abdisalan appreciated to the Government and People of South Africa for hosting a large Somali community in their country that has actively participated in trade and economic activities, affirming the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

On the other side, Minister Lamola reiterated that South Africa stands by the unity, independence, and territorial integrity of Somalia, expressing its commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
