The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mr. Ilyaas Ali Hassan, officially presented his credentials to the President of the DRC, Mr. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Kinshasa.
Ambassador Ilyaas expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and the support that the government and people of Congo have extended to the Somali community residing in the country.
The Ambassador also congratulated President Tshisekedi on the DRC’s achievement of joining the United Nations Security Council, noting that Somalia, as a member of the Council, is ready to cooperate on regional and international matters.
He further reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening political, economic, and social cooperation between the two nations. The Ambassador proposed the establishment of a Somalia–Congo Business Forum to promote trade and investment.
Finally, Ambassador Ilyaas encouraged the President to facilitate the issuance of business licenses and visas to enhance the movement of entrepreneurs between the two countries, as both are members of the East African Community (EAC).
