President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Government of Somalia is currently holding a meeting at the Presidential Palace with members of the National Salvation Forum.
Among those attending are prominent political figures, including former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, former Speaker of the House Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, and former South West State President Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden.
According to sources close to the presidency, the meeting is focused on addressing the ongoing political crisis in the South West State. A key issue under discussion is today’s incident in which opposition figures were blocked from traveling to Baidoa.
President Hassan Sheikh is working to find a solution to the renewed political tensions in the region, with a particular focus on ensuring that opposition politicians are allowed to access Baidoa freely.
