An armed group suspected of being Somali pirates has hijacked a Yemeni fishing boat off the coast of Eyl district in the Nugaal region, according to the European Union.
A statement issued by the European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) announced that it had been informed of a suspected piracy-related incident in which a Yemeni fishing boat was hijacked off the coast of EYL district in the Nugaal region.
The European Union Coast Guard Operation (EUNAVFOR) said in a statement that the boat was hijacked by seven armed men suspected of being Somali pirates, but the incident is still under investigation.
The European Union Coast Guard Operation (EUNAVFOR) added that the hijacked boat was carrying eight crew members, all Somalis.
